The Request Item button now only appears when all circulating (standard loan or 7 day loan) copies are out on loan, allowing you to join the queue for the next available copy.
It was, until very recently, also possible to request available items. This followed on from a successful Click & Collect service that we ran through lockdown when students were not allowed in the building. We chose to continue with this on a trial basis through September while we assessed whether it was something we could feasibly provide in normal times, when traffic and demand are much higher. Unfortunately we came across an issue recently that meant we had to withdraw this service.
We are therefore now back to operating in the way we did before Covid, whereby available books cannot be reserved, and borrowers instead help themselves to these from the open shelves.
