Can I get / do I need an Athens account?
Answer
Athens is an authentication tool used by some universities to provide access to online systems and products. Although we use Athens at BGU it is not routinely used to provide access to library resources.
At BGU you are likely to use a mixture of library tools like WorldCat, A-Z Databases (links below) and internet search engines like Google Scholar or Bing to do assignment research. If you use WorldCat or A-Z Databases off-campus, and you try to access an online resource, your credentials will be recognised and you will be prompted to enter your usual BGU login details. However, this doesn't happen when you use search engines like Google or Bing because they don't know who you are. For this reason we highly recommend installing our LibKey Nomad browser extension. You can read more about what LibKey Nomad is and how it helps you to access library resources off campus by clicking on the link below.
If you are a North Lincolnshire SCITT student, or a BGU student trying to access Digimap, please email us if you are having difficulties with your Athens account.
